Sardulgarh – May 8 (Prakash Singh Zaildar) No house or farm in Punjab will be allowed to remain deprived of water. Closed water sources like rivers will all be restarted. These views were expressed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Speaking after laying the foundation stone of the Chitti Venai project at Simbli village of Garhsankar as part of the government’s water conservation campaign in Hoshiarpur district. This will fulfill the long-standing water demand of the people of the area.
Talking about the use of canal water, the Chief Minister said that the continuously decreasing ground water level is a matter of concern, due to which it has become very important to recharge the earth. The waste water of rains will be used for recharging. He said. That there are about 14 lakh tube wells in the state. If this scheme is successful, then arrangements will be made to provide canals to the fields instead of 4 lakh tube wells under the first phase. This will save both electricity and water. On this occasion, Rajya Sabha member Sant Balveer Singh Seechewal was specially present.
