(Sikh personalities demand strict action against the accused)
Sardulgarh – April 24 (Zaildar TV) There is an unfortunate news of an incident of blasphemy at Gurdwara Kotwali Sahib at Morinda in Rupnagar district. A young man, who looks like a Sikh in terms of dress, entered the Darbar Sahib with shoes and ransacked Granthi Singh. After beating him, he insulted Sri Guru Granth Sahib. He was caught by the Sangat and handed over to the police. Against which the police registered a case under 295.
City shut down in protest – As soon as the incident came to light, the entire city was shut down in protest. People demanding strict action sat in front of the police station and sat on dharna. Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and a large number of others came to support the justice-seeking people. More people joined the protest.
Expression of concern by Sikh personalities – Executive Jathedar Singh Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has expressed concern over the blasphemy incidents and demanded strict action from the Punjab government against the culprits. He said that yesterday, Gutka Sahib near Goluwala of Faridkot The papers were torn and thrown away. He said that there is a deliberate attempt to spoil the atmosphere of Punjab.
Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the incident of blasphemy. He said that such incidents are happening due to the lack of fear of government’s strictness. The state government should think about this seriously.
